The international market offers basically three types of coal for domestic use:

  • Several types of common coal, which may have variable granulometry, and a fixed carbon content of 60%, and may eventually produce sparks.
  • Non-sparking charcoal (preferred by German consumers), which may comply or not with the DIN 51749 Standard which establishes a fixed carbon content of 75%.
  • Self-light charcoal, which is hardwood charcoal impregnated with natural non-contaminant waxes or using wicks for self-ignition (This product is less known and the most costly one).

LUMP CHARCOAL CHIK CHAK

  • Scientific Name: Carbo lignis, Carbo vegetalis.
  • Common Name: Charcoal.
  • Tariff Classification Number: Charcoal 4402.00.00.100D
  • Characteristics:
    100% X 100% natural hardwood charcoal.
  • Maximum humidity 8% (ranging between 8% and 4%). Humidity is thoroughly controlled to guarantee optimum quality.
  • Fixed carbon range: 60% to 70%.
  • Volatile products range: 20% to 30%.
  • Ashes range: 4% to 12%.
  • Granulometry: 30 to 80 mm.
  • Presentation: this charcoal comes in pre-printed cartons of 2 kg each approximately and is made with latifoliate wood (white quebracho and carob tree).
  • No sparks produced
  • It contains wick for self-ignition and excellent fire time.
